Apostille FR. Apostille is a special sign which is put on official documents of non-commercial nature, coming from institutions and organizations of the countries participating in Hague Convention abolishing the requirement of legalization for foreign public documents.
Apostille certifies the signature, quality in which the person signing the document and in some cases, the authenticity of the stamp or seal validating the document.
Apostille does not require further certification or legalization and is recognized by the authorities of all States parties to the Convention. Apostille can not be used if there are legal grounds for abolishing or simplifying the document legalization.
ATTENTION IN accordance with the Hague Convention of diplomatic and consular offices do NOT AFFIX the APOSTILLE and issued the documents that they reference, etc. should be recognized in the country where they are issued without an apostille. The apostille can be affixed only in the country in which the document was originally issued.
This means for example that the Russian birth certificate can be apostilled only in Russia, but not in the UK or any other country.
